 B&M Announces the creation of over 2,000 Retail opportunities

It was announced this week that B&M is proud to launch their Apprenticeship programmes in Retail Skills and Leading a Team. As one of the U.K.’s fastest growing retailers, with 424 stores nationwide, employing more than 20,000 people, B&M feel confident that the newly introduced Apprenticeships offer a great opportunity for B&M colleagues to develop and enhance their careers in Retail. New partnership with Carpetright!

First4Skills are proud to announce new partnership with Carpetright! The UK’s leading carpet and bed retailer launched their first national retail Apprenticeship programme on 5th March and celebrated with 40 new Apprentices joining the retail Apprenticeship scheme. The programme combines new Apprentices who have recently joined the company in addition to existing staff members who will benefit from gaining a Level 2 Retail apprenticeship qualification. During the launch event, directors and senior members of the Carpetright team gave first hand insight into the company, and showcased the opportunities to develop as well as ‘a day in the life of Carpetright’. With over 500 stores UK wide, Apprenticeships are a major part of Carpetright’s growth strategy which is to employ young, talented people who will become managers and leaders of the future.

We are always keen to know from our learners how well we are doing or if there is anything that we need to improve on.  The learner satisfaction survey is an online survey which can be completed 24 hours a day from any internet-linked device including laptops, BlackBerrys and iPhones.  If you are a learner with First4Skills please take the time to complete this short survey, it only takes a couple of minutes. Argos & TNT Post Apprentices set sail for the Apprentice Ship Cup 2014!

Four of the best apprentices from Argos and TNT Post along with the Merseyside Adventure Sailing Trust Charity (MAST) last week sailed from Liverpool to Whitehaven in the first Apprenticeship race of its kind. The event has commenced from the 14th June and will run up until the 28th June coinciding with The International Festival for Business 2014 and The Mersey International River Festival involving a fleet of eight tall ships crewed by over 150 Apprentices from across the UK. First4Skills are thrilled to have played a part in the Tall Ships Challenge; Apprentice Ship Cup and are already looking forward to next year's event! Click here to read the full press release.

First4Skills becomes first training provider to be given full NUS Membership

It was announced at the National Union of Students (NUS) National Conference, which took place in Liverpool in April, that First4Skills is the first national training provider to be accredited with full membership status within NUS. Click here to view more!


First4Skills Appoints New CEO

National training organisation First4Skills, based in Liverpool, has announced the appointment of Sue Price to the role of Chief Executive to First4Skills. Sue Price is currently the North West Director for Employer and Provider Services for the Skills Funding Agency. She is committed to creating opportunities to drive up Apprenticeship growth nationally, to respond to employer needs and deliver responsive high quality provision. First4Skills and The Merseyside Adventure Sailing trust announce involvement in The Tall Ships Challenge: Apprentice Ship Cup 2014

We are delighted to announce in participation with the M.A.S.T Charity, an adventure of a lifetime! The voyage will be in June and will travel from Liverpool to Whitehaven (Leg 1) and from Whitehaven to Liverpool (Leg 2) and is aimed challenging Apprentices from all from raising their own funds to learning how to crew a ship independently. All learners and employers are encouraged to get involved in this once in a life-time opportunity and widen the profile of the Apprenticeship programme from a diverse range of platforms. Apprenticeships 4 England  2014  Training Provider Awards Finalists – First4Skills are pleased to announce that we have been nominated as a finalist

The prestigious event will take place at The London Film Museum on the evening of the 4th March 2014  as part of The Voice of Apprenticeships Annual Conference. Apprenticeships 4 England  Chief Executive, Lindsay McCurdy, said: “We were taken aback by the huge number of submissions in our 1st year of the awards  and were delighted to by the number of entries and  look to build on this start to make this an annual event in the Apprenticeships Awards Calendar.”

The Countdown Continues for Apprenticeships for England: The Voice of Apprenticeships Conference

Supported by The National Apprenticeship Service, The Voice of Apprenticeships Conference will take place on the 4th and 5th of March in London. The agenda throughout both days will include key speakers, sponsors and exhibitors and also feature a gala dinner with the aim to look at apprenticeships from a diverse range of perspectives. Over the two days of the conference will cover: keynote speeches from sponsor First4Skills and platinum sponsors City & Guilds and OCR, high quality employer-lead skills training outlining the Government's vision and career guidance from The Chair of the National Career council and Commissioner of UKCES and discussing higher apprenticeships and how they work.
